Terms & Conditions for granting the Special Prize at Smogathon 2019

 

  1. These Terms & Conditions specify the rules for granting the Special Prize at Smogathon 2019. Whenever in these Terms & Conditions there are no special regulations, the provisions of Terms & Conditions of Smogathon 2019 shall apply. The terms written with an initial capital letter shall be understood in a manner consistent with Terms & Conditions of Smogathon 2019.
  2. The Promisor of the Special Prize is Krakowski Park Technologiczny sp. z o.o. with its registered office in Krakow, 60 Podole street, 30-394 Kraków, NIP number 675-11-57-834, entered in the Register of Entrepreneurs run by Sąd Rejonowy dla Krakowa – Śródmieście in Kraków, XI Wydział Gospodarczy Krajowego Rejestru Sądowego under the KRS number 000058058, share capital: 17 567 000,00 PLN.
  3. The Special Prize is financed from the funds of the SISCODE project, carried out by Krakowski Park Technologiczny sp. z o.o. in international partnership within the framework of Horizon 2020 - Research and Innovation Framework Programme, agreement No. 78821.
  4. The Special Prize will be awarded to one of the teams participating in the Competition.
  5. The amount of the Special Prize is PLN 60,000 gross.

The Promisor reserves the right to reduce the amount of the Prize.

  1. The Jury selected by the Organizer will decide on the awarding of the Special Prize. The Jury awarding the Special Prize will include one representative of the Special Prize Sponsor.
  2. The Special Prize is intended to cover the costs related to the implementation and testing of the awarded solution in one of the communes around Kraków indicated by the Promisor of the Special Award.
  3. The Promisor of the Special Prize will present to the participants of the Event the Report presenting a diagnosis of basic needs and proposals for air protection solutions in the region. The Report is the result of cocreation work carried out by the Promisor of the Special Award, involving representatives of public administration, scientific community, business, non-governmental organizations and residents of Malopolska.
  4. The implementation of the Special Prize will be carried out in the period from 01.01.2020 to 30.05.2020.
  5. The implementation of the Special Prize will be carried out in consultation with the Promisor of the Special Prize and will be supervised by him. The Special Prize will be paid in tranches, agreed between the Sponsor and the Awarded Person prior to signing the agreement on the basis of the presented activity schedule and budget.
  6. The criteria for granting the Special Prize:

The Prize will be awarded to one of the solutions that will be qualified to the Final.

  1. The Special Prize may be awarded in one of the following categories:
  1. Industrial Pollution Surveillance
  2. Identification of air pollution sources
  3. Monitoring and forecasting of pollution
  4. Management of transport emissions
  1. The Jury assesses the submitted solutions in terms of:
  1. possibility of implementing the solution in one of the Krakow’s metropolitan communes /adequacy to the needs defined in the Report referred to in Point 8. 0 - 20 points
  2. solution scalability 0 - 10 points
  3. readiness for implementation within 6 months 0 - 20 points
  1. The decisions of the Jury are adopted by a simple majority. In the event of an equality of votes, the decision of the Jury’s chairman, elected by the members of the Jury before the start of the Competition, shall be binding.
  2. The Jury’s decisions are final and are not subject to appeal.
  3. The Jury reserves the right to reduce the value of the Special Prize if none of the solutions submitted for assessment does not exceed the required number of points:
  1. min. 80% of the maximum number of points - prize of PLN 60,000 gross
  2. 60 - 80% of the maximum number of points - prize of PLN 40,000 gross
  3. 40 - 60% of the maximum number of points - prize of PLN 25,000 
  4. Less than 40% of the maximum number of points - prize of 10,000 PLN
  1. Participants authorize the Promisor of the Special Award to use their names, surnames and image.
  2. Participants authorize the Promisor of the Special Award to freely use logos, trademarks, titles and other intangible rights and promotional materials regarding the solution presented during the Competition, also in relation to future editions of the Competition.
  3. Participants who violate the rules specified in the Terms, generally applicable laws or act in a manner inconsistent with morality, may be excluded from the Competition by the Promisor of the Special Award without the right to compensation.
  4. The Promisor of the Special Award reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions, change the value of the Special Prize or cancel it completely until the start of the Event. The Organizer or any of the Partners of the event shall not be liable for this.
